Country has such a distinct style and sound. Check out Stephane's new lesson "Country Licks", and then post a to today's topic. What techniques are typically used to define Country music in your opinion?

It's a proven fact that guitar faces have a bigger impact on tone than wood does.

Don't forget slides, especially with the use of bottlenecks.

I would say bends, hybrid picking and use of slides in the licks.

Haha, this is so topical for me right now, as I'm learning (really slowly) to play Muris' Fast Country solo at the moment. biggrin.gif I think it's chicken picking (as in the really countryish way, where the strings are almost completely muted), slides and bends. But of course the tone's important too, the strings need to be picked hard and near the bridge to achieve the perfect tone. smile.gif

Along with hybrid picking, finger picking, slides and bends, I would say alternate picking as well smile.gif For rhythm country guitar, good strumming and muting technique is needed as well smile.gif
