> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Not really SRV vibe in your take. It lacks power and agressivenes. I have just seen Jonathan's video 5 times to compare details and I found many spots where you can improve. The first thing is the vibrato which has to be strong as a storm. Sometimes you play it and sometimes have completely flat notes. That's especially noticable when you finish the phrase and don't apply vibrato on the last note. The whole lick is wasted because of that. On 0:10 you palm muted those notes. Jonathan didn't mute those. Generally blues like this one doesn't need that at all. The long note from 0:32 - 0:37 is not rhytmically correct. You played a completely different pattern. That note should have all syncopated strokes and it's very interesting and common phrase in blues. Listen carefuly and try to see the difference from what you played. Also notice with how much power he is picking that one note. You should also not be affraid of getting "angry" in these parts where the solo developed almost to the climax. The lick on 0:54 - 0:58 was very sloppy. That's the most interesting lick to me in Jonathan's take but you just didn't execute it tight.

Enough of my talking smile.gif I still think this is a strong 8 and still sounds very good. I just wish you picked all these little details because I love blues when it's played tight.

Well done man! This lesson is a very tricky one and you nailed it! There are some "expression" aspects to improve but I can note your hard work here. You learned every lick perfect and the only part that sounds a bit different is the double string bend at 00:40. The first thing that I would work to get a superb take is your vibrato. SRV vibrato was one of his tone's more distinctive characteristic and Jonathan really nailed it in his lesson. I think that continue working on this lesson but this time concentrating on the vibrato you'll get a 10 points take. Keep on the great job.

You played that take very well, just that the SVR energie is not there. Try to play it more intense, more energetic, more wild, then you'll get a 10 next time wink.gif
