GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ What Names Did Your Bands Have ?
Posted by: Ben Higgins Sep 9 2014, 09:53 AM
Ok, a quick and easy topic. List all the names of the bands you've been in, even if they were only short lived projects that never did anything. There's got to be some interesting names coming up !
Gizmo K.I.A. The Reckoning

Gizmo.. I think that's my neighbours cat name. What does K.I.A. stand for? Killing in Anger? Kangaroos in .. Anger?
Anyways the bands I've been in are:

I couldn't begin to list all the Guest appearances and one off projects I was part of!

Killed In Action
and Gizmo was named after one of the founder's pets.. I can't remember, might have been a cat.

The Backwoods Whitey Fassler Band (cover band) Defiance (cover band) AK Raw (original/cover band) Liquid Chicken (cover band)
There was one other cover band after Defiance but for the life of me I can't remember the name, we only played one gig at a hotel for a hairdressers convention. And another cover band that was put together for a one gig/contest in which we took first place playing the Doobie Bros song" Long Train Runnin" we won $500 bucks split between 7 of us. I will ask my buddy Chuck who played bass at that gig if he remembers the name and edit the list later.
My father used to have a Lhasa Apso dog that was named Gizmo McBoing.

Ibis takes my mind to Isis Taka, you are doing an extraordinary job on your own - have you had projects which involved more folks? If yes, why not anymore?

You beat me to it C-Man. But which Isis are we thinking of ?
Let's associate it with the Egyptian deity !

Hey Cosmin, thanks heaps!
It's really hard right now because I have school and also work. I would really love to play in a band sometime again, I really miss the pure energy when I am playing live guitar. But a lot of schoolwork and working means finding rehearsal time with a group is super hard.
On the other hand, being solo gives me a bit of flexibility because I don't have to always plan around other's schedules. But even then, maybe after school, I'm going to try and form a band with some people

Taka Nothing, BUT NOTHING compares to playing gigs live and living a life filled with adventures - some nice, some sad, some happy - you know the kind you get when you have to intertwine your path with a lot of people Indeed, being on your own makes things easier in one way, but at some point you will discover that you literally feel like you need human contact It's amazing to jam with someone and write something together!
Think about it and if you have the opportunity, go for it

1) "Big Stank" or "Who Farted" <---- First band; never played out live. We couldn't decide between the 2, so we just said both.
2) Smokin' Betty
3) Cosmic Circle

Definitely, man! I'm going to have a 3 month holiday through November so it'll be time to get out there and find some people! I'm looking for a good tube combo for around $1000 at the moment, maybe around 40 watts or something

I might be able to top that with "King Kongs first dump of the day", played live once.
I had more succes with "Merchant Street" which was the translation of the street in Copenhagen, where we sometimes practised.
