Facebook Or Twitter For Musicians

So, Facebook and Twitter are both very popular platforms for musicians, but Facebook is becoming a place where you have to pay for your posts to be seen by everyone. On the other hand, Twitter is more open in the sense that everyone sees your tweet. I like the open sense of Twitter. I think it's very useful for meeting new people and making connections. I find that Facebook, on the other hand, is a much more closed environment, and it's not really great for meeting new people. What are your thoughts on this topic? It feels more direct when contacting them and I dont have to go through a wall of banality to find information. I had a Facebook and requested anyone holding a guitar and the end result was about 10 people out of 5000 were worth talking to. The rest was like requests and event invites I would never attend. I realized that I needed something unique to have a following of some sort. That's when I cancelled that account and reduced my friend list to only those who I want to see and then edited which of those friends I wanted to see information from. There are guitar groups on Facebook which can be a good way to advertise your music but I think you have to be a regular poster to have full effect or..... I've known Twitter to be very good for people with businesses.. but the Twitter thing does hinge on whether these people will talk back or interact with you. I see a lot of people posting everyday with no replies or interaction. However, I have made a few new fans of the band by opening up convos with people but it does require you to bite the bullet and be unafraid of looking like a random tool. I still find Facebook easier for conversing with people and prefer its layout. However, for bands it is absolute cack these days, unless you pay as Cosmin has mentioned. I find that I'm best off by sharing any band related info on my own profile as I actually have a lot of people who interact with me and things. You really don't want any potential fans to put your name in a search box on whatever service they use and come up empty. The good news is, you can use www.hootsuite.com to post to all of your social media at once It's the secret weapon of running your social media without going nuts. Also, it should go without saying that you need an instagram account. It integrates with facebook (they own it) and has major traction in key demographics. If someone likes you the first time they see/hear/experience you - no matter how they got there - they will come to you again if they know where you're gonna be. Twitter, FB, word of mouth or a friggin' poster on a light pole. It doesn't matter. If they dug you they'll come back. Make them like you ... as in actually like you in real life. That's what makes me mad There's an option for that To turn on notifications for people or Pages you follow: Go to the Timeline or Page Click Friends, Following or Liked Click Get Notifications When you choose to get notifications, you'll get a notification each time that person or Page posts something you're eligible to see.
