Hi llibach!! Welcome to your Gab's Army thread!!

Could you please tell me a bit about you, your musical tastes, influences, strengths and weaknesses? I would need some videos of you playing rhythm and solo guitar, so please post your best material here. If you have some music or ideas of your own, also post them here. Also let me know how you think that I can help you and what are your expectations for our job. You can check the other Army's thread to discover the different modalities of this project.

The principles of our Army are:

+ Improve your technique
+ Make music and solos
+ Have fun
+ Destroy the enemy (hahaha not realy just kidding... )

Hey Gabe, thanks for taking me. Musical tastes are most often metal or blues, I also like a lot of solo acoustic stuff. The metal I'm into is mostly riff orientated stuff like Mastodon, High on Fire, Isis or mathcore technical stuff like Botch, Drowningman and Converge not really into the modern things. Blues I love old acoustic delta blues (blind blake, willy mctell) and love the modern blues for the solo's and emotion (SRV, Gary Moore, Freddie King).
About my playing strengths and weaknes, I think I have decent rhythm and a good understanding of theory and phrasing, weaknes- my solos seem to be a bit boring and I don't use much tapping, legato or sweep picking.
I hope that you can help me to bring colour to my lead playing I'm already working with Alex on theory, chords and improvising so was hoping you could get my metal and rock solos better. I really like the stuff you do with Pentatonics I'm not really a shreder but I do want include some advanced techniques in my solos.
Here's a few old Rec takes for you.

Hi mate, thanks for the info and the videos. In this thread we will have to work on technique and also on incorporating more licks to your guitar vocabulary. The licks can be learnt from lessons and also from famous songs. Once you learn a lick, you have to jam over the backing to create your own variation.

one question: which are your favourite guitar players?

My suggestions for starting would be to work on Ben's Land Of Legato series.

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/search/%2...%20of%20legato/

and also start with this lesson that combines Pentatonic licks with tapping and legato:

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...s-intermediate/

and also let's start on this lesson:

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...picking-lesson/

If Sweep Picking is a new technique, you will have to be patient and start slowly with this one.

Let me know what you think!

Gab.-
