Hello GMCers

The only thing i have learned to tap, is on the E string. Like this in kristofer dahl youtube lesson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxRPQXHp9VA

Now im practicing on the GMC lesson, EVH style, by muris varajic. Now im on last part, tapping on D string. How do i tap there? I does not seem to be what i have done before, i hammer first, then pull off and pull off. Can someone please explain?

these are generally refered to as- hamer ons from nowhere
you will have to train your index finger to strike the string hard enough to make the first note in the phrase
just takes practice -and - you will get it
p.s. this is a wonderful shred technique and very useful
i encourage you to take the time to learn it as it will easily impress the neighbors once you got it

Basically you mute the lower strings with your right hand and the top strings with your left hand
