I hate musicals with a passion, although I'm sure there are a lot of music "related" movies that are good.

"Ray". The story of Ray Charles.
Just watched 'Contact' the bio pic about Ian Curtis, the late singer with Joy Division. Great film whether you like the group or not - excellent acting.
I'd also recommend 'Bird' - another bio pic but this is about Charlie Parker, and 'Some kind of monster' the documentary about Metallica.
