Amp Help!

Hello GMC!!

I’m a intermediate-skill player and want to change my first amp (a little one) and buy a decent and bigger amp in a price range of $400 - $600 . I went to the guitar shop and saw the Marshall MG series amps, they really caught my attention. So I was thinking of buying the MG50fx but first I decided to do some research on the Internet. I read some reviews that said it was a pretty good amp for its price. But in some guitar forums people said it was a really poor amp and recommended to stay away from the MG series. But before buying anything i want your opinion guys.

I don’t have much experience with amps and after reading the bad reputation people gave to the Marshall MG amps I had my doubts, so here are my questions:

What do you think of the Marshall MG amps?

Are they worth buying? I cant afford the best amp but i know there can be good amps for that price range.

What amps would you recommend? I play mainly Rock , Blues and starting to play Jazz!!

My name is Mateo Barragan (Bara it's my nickname)

I played classical guitar for 3 years. I used to play music from great classical guitar composers like Francisco Tarrega, Agustin Barrios Mangore, Heitor Villa-Lobos ...and I think of myself at that time as a decent guitar player.

In my last year of school i decided to quit the conservatory ( i said i wanted to focus on my studies, but i really wanted to enjoy my last year of school hanging out with my friends ) so for the next 2 years i didn't take guitar seriously... but during this time is when i started to listen to jazz, blues and rock n roll, and then everything changed... I was suddenly in love with the electric guitar.

Although classical guitar is beautiful ( I still like it a lot), after hearing guitar players like Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Wes Montgomery, Scott Henderson, Eddie Van Halen, Chuck Berry I knew i had to learn how to play the electric guitar. Hearing this guitar players was a mind blowing experience for me...

So I bought my first electric guitar but I didn't know where to start... so i was lucky to find GMC, this page is really awesome!!

I'm taking guitar playing seriously again and I hope to improve my guitar skills!
