GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Varg Arrested Again!

Posted by: Sensible Jones Jul 16 2013, 01:37 PM

Black metal musician and neo-nazi sympathizer Kristian “Varg” Vikernes has been arrested and taken to custody in the Correze region of France this Tuesday, according to French radio RTL.

The police suspect the Norwegian national of planning a “massacre” and are currently searching his house for weapons and explosives. His wife, a French national and a member of a shooting club, had recently legally purchased four rifles.

The anti-terrorist prosecutor has been put in charge of the investigation.

Vikernes, the man behind black metal project Burzum, had spent 21 years in prison – the maximum sentence in Norway – for the murder of Øystein Aarseth, known as Euronymous, the guitar player of black metal band Mayhem. Vikernes had also been convicted of arson attacks on four churches, he was freed in May 2009. He then moved to France with his wife and three children.

Vikernes, a Pagan and vocal neo-nazi sympathiser, reportedly received the manifesto of Anders Behring Breivik, the far-right terrorist responsible for the July 2011 Oslo bombing and Utoeya Massacre which left 77 dead. Breivik was sentenced to 21 years in jail for terrorism on August 2012.

Breivik sending a copy of a manifesto setting out his ideology to Vikernes, an official at the prosecutor’s office said. “That was at the origin of the investigation … There were several suspicions that made the services fear he could possibly carry out a violent act,” the official said.

On his website, Vikernes discusses Breivik’s manifesto, but also criticises him for killing innocent Norwegians.

Only 21 years for Murder 1. Then again, Brevik only got 21 for killing all those kids. You can do anything you want pretty much in Norway, and get only 21 years instead of life imprisonment or the death sentence. I saw a documentary about VARGS "jail" and it was nicer than my apartment. Very well appointed, clean, 24 web access and his own computer, TV, etc. I'm guessing he wants to kill some folks to get sent back smile.gif

Almost true. 21 years "forvaring" means they can lock you up for life if need be.
Breivik will never get out, I'm pretty sure on that smile.gif

Greven (Varg Vikernes) got 21 years for murder and beacuse he set fire to three churches.
The murder was in self-defence (or so he claims), and that's the reason he didn't get "forvaring",
so he got out after he finished his sentence.

Death sentence is not part of the norwegian justice system, and I think that's a good thing.
I'm all for longer jail sentences here though...

Most of the jails in Norway are quite nice, but it depends on where you are I think.
All of them have good standards though.

About his arrest in France, I just believe they were tired of his right wing antics,
his blog, his hatred, his way of life and for being a complete moron, so they decided to get him off the streets.
Most likely he will get boxed up, shipped back to norway, let loose in a forest where he will build a cabin
and go on to record more mediocre Burzum albums *sigh*

...and hopefully someday he'll get too old to keep up his stupid shit smile.gif

Unbelievable... I was wondering why nobody made a movie based on those black metal years... not a documental, a movie.

Thanks for the info and clarity. I hope your right. Brevik should never get out. I've always suspected varg of being just a few cans short of a six and in his later years he's getting worse. Never was a fan I must say. Still just don't get it. Poorly recorded, poorly played music doesn't do much for me.

Yeah, it's a sad case, guy has some bad stuff going on in his head. I used to teach Rock History and we did a whole class on Norwegian Black Metal, was one of my favorite classes to teach, but when I showed the interview with Varg talking about the murder, everyone got chills. Crazy stuff.

We had a great thread on a few documentaries about the Norwegian Black Metal scene a while back and it was quite spiff smile.gif The entire scene itself served as the genesis for many of the genres and subgenres of Metal that followed. I'm sure you know all of that though smile.gif It was a great time for Metal, but a bad time for Churches made of wood.
