Hello great GMCers!
Until now I played with my pc, a MobilePre usb audio interface and guitar rig.

But it's time now to buy (actually to get some Christmas presents ) some gear.
I need an amplifier and/or a multieffect... The budget is limited, and I'm considering an ampli with effect on board or an ampli + multieffect.
I only need an ampli for practice.

I really like the Marshall mg15fx equipped with some effects (can find it at 159 euros here in Italy), and I like the Boss ME-25 (about 149 euros).

The great dilemma is: to buy just the marshall or an ampli without effects + boss me-25?
Having a multieffect with a switching board could be very useful...

Any ideas?

Effects on the BOSS will most likely be better than those on the MG.
I'd go the good clean channel amp + multieffects route

Ok! So what kind of ampli do you suggest? Budget around € 160. Just home practice.

My advice is to get Marshall and boss when you have separate units you have more control and more ways to adjust your tone

So are you suggesting a 'clean' Marshall (no effects) + boss ?

You have a wide range of small practice amps for that price, my favorite is Vox Pathfinder 15R ! With an external cabinet, I've played club gigs on it !

How bout Roland Cube? It's an awesome amp with effects and modelling, and I think it's better sounding then Marshall, at least cleans are, and distortion is probably more versatile (I think there is an option to add footswitch too).

The best would be to go to a music store and try different ones until you fin one that you like and feel comfortable with the sound.

Actually I'm going to find some time to go to a big music store (luckly here in Rome there are a lot) and try. But of course I wanted to hear your suggestions Masters!

The Roland Cube has an output for Headphones/Recording out. It means that I can plug this output to my m-audio and record the sound of the amp on my sequencer?

Most of today's amps have line out/recording out, so just to add: check out various options, and as Gab and others said: try before you buy in the store, you will have more clearer idea about what it sounds like, as opposed what says "on paper".

Yes, or a Marshall with just a couple effects like distortion, overdrive, chorus.

I must agree with Ivan here, as I have tested the Roland Cube myself!

Otherwise, the best choice would be a clean amp with a multieffects unit, for the budget you are having available!
