Alright, first off, I'm not even sure if this is the correct board to post this topic in, but if the mods feel this post is un-necessary to the forum they can just lock it up.
(BTW: I made this post a long time ago at UG and no one was too interested, my username there is

I've always been a enormous dimebag fanatic, and if I had some way of recording this textual lesson, I would.
The purpose of this post is to show you a lot of simple techniques done by the great Dimebag Darrell, his mixture of de-tuned guitars, fast riffs, amazing vibrato, and unique sound really define him as a amazing guitarist.
I've been observing dime's old playing styles, one of the main thing I noticed that he really , really, really, based himself of the pentatonic scales like crazy, he could take a pentatonic box, do a really modern day bluesy lick, and just improvise off that till he got something he liked.
Dime was a major fan of this sort of lick, I noticed that a lot of the time he'd work inside the pentatonic box and work his way up to a certain lick, then repeat the lick a few times with a few minor changes. I also picked off that he would like to bend up to the note he wanted to end on.
Example:
He wants to end on the 7th fret, 3rd string. He would usually end by bending on the 5th fret on the 3rd string, to make the lick/run sound longer and fuller.
(I winged this just for a small demonstration):

I attached a GP file for anyone that has GP, this ASCII text tab doesn't really do the lick justice.
So as you can see by that demonstration, it's mainly pentatonic, a lot of repetition, but every now and then he'd throw in a few "odd" notes to give it a weird vibe, and make it sound like he wasn't just repeating the same pattern. I have a lot of other demonstrations of Dime's playing that I will continue to update about if this thread is successful, if not, I hope somebody learned something.
