When The Lyricist Is Not The Singer |

If I understood it correctly Pete Wentz (bassist) from Fall Out Boy is s the band's primary lyricist and Patrick Stump (singer) is the bands primary composer.
To me it somehow makes more sense to have the singer write the lyrics especially if he/she writes the music - do you know of any other bands who have it this way? Oh and don't miss Ramiro's rocking lesson. |

The Who- Peter Townsend was the main song writer

in Dream Theater, MIke Portnoy, drums, and John Petrucci, guitar, write the lyrics.

I think the main quality of the singer is to make people believe in what he is saying. So if he is not the one who actually wrote the lyrics - he has to believe first. It can really make or brake the performance when it comes to how much the singer is involved at presenting the song to the audience. It's not the notes and words - but how to express them.

It doesn't matter who wrote the lyrics, it matters if the singer can translate his emotions to the crowd. If he cannot, best lyrics and music in the world won't help him.
