Just a quick question about pull offs i know that your not just pulling your finger straight off that you kind of pluck the string however ive seen a couple of ways and im wondering which is the correct way. One is where they pluck the note and then pull the finger off in a diagonal direction where as in the video ive linked below they pull/pluck the finger across the string and then stop it on the string below, is any of the ways more correct than the other or does it come down to personal preference?

Link to one of the examples..

Just a couple of quick beginner questions, im pretty much learning guitar from the ground up stopped and started again ive seen Ivan Milenkovic beginner program that im going to follow. My rhythm/strumming isnt too bad i can change chords fluently with varyin strum patterns as well as barre chords etc however i have hardly done any lead work.

Im just wondering whats the best way to go about this should i just breakup each technique i need to work on and practice that for x amount of time? Also what should i concentrate on as a beginner i know i need to work on hammer ons and pull offs and alternate picking is it worth trying very basic sweep picking as well?

Hey everyone!

Im thomas or tommi im 22 and from western australia. I just started learning guitar a couple months back, most of my life ive been into rock my mum raised me on glam metal hence my username. Ive always wanted to be able to play guitar like my idols so ive finally decided to take that step. As far as styles go im into glam metal, thrash and hardcore my fave bands would be Megadeth and COB as far as guitarists go i dig Alexi, John-5, Steve Vai, Randy Rhoads and Blackmore.

After looking at several other sites i decided to join GMC because of the wide range of videos on many styles and the community aspect that seems to exist here, atm im lacking in direction with my learning im slowly getting the rythm side of playing down and want to work on my lead and im sure that this is the place that can point me in the right direction. I must admit the sealer for me was the mentor program that exists here i cant wait to make full use of it.

Cheers for reading
Tommi.
