I ordered a TV from a site that said it was in stock and it took 4 weeks to be delivered and when I called after a week they said they had no stock. Some shops really are useless at updating their web pages.

Speaking of the latency of the Toneport USB (Buffering) alone adds like 5ms in each direction. Which is ihmo already noticable.

I have UX1 Studio version and I can't see ANY latency. Before this I had to move my tracks for a couple of ms.

QUOTE (29a @ Jan 14 2009, 10:54 AM) *
Another problem with the toneport is that it requires special drivers.

Any professional card brings the same drivers - ASIO model. Using any professional DAW software requires ASIO enabled sound source.

just a quick question, can i use the *.l6t for this also ?

Yes, they work on UX series - unless of course they use the gear you have installed in your POD software - so some will work and some will not.

Good soundcards don't pick up any relavant amount of noise from the PC. Speaking of the latency of the Toneport USB (Buffering) alone adds like 5ms in each direction. Which is ihmo already noticable. Another problem with the toneport is that it requires special drivers. These things aside, I think it's a good USB Guitar Interface.

Mandos, my recommendation would be to get a BOSS GT-10. I've got a Pod XT (which is very similar to the X3, which I've also tried). I prefer the sound of the GT-10, the ability to loop in a preamp (I've got an ENGL 530) or pedals is also great. The device is USB Audio class compliant which means it will just work plug & play with your computer, is able to control an external (pre)amp. It has got an integrated looper which is cool for jamming or creating patches. I'd strongly suggest you to check it out and spend some time with it. I didn't like it at first but after some fiddling I'm really enjoying it now.

Hmm toneport line is not called toneport anymore , its equivalent is POD Studio GX, you can try searching for that in stores too..

You can't hear any latency because it is not audible through ToneDirect monitoring mate. But if you turn on monitoring from DAW there will be 15-30 latency, depending of sampling rate or the project.

ok, you're right... but what for can I use monitoring from a DAW? Last time I was using it was when I was recording through Guitar Rig or Amplitube (btw: fantastic simulator!) - but now I can't see any purpose for that... smile.gif
Monitoring through DAW will ALWAYS have some latency - it's the time needed for signal recording, processing and rerouting... and the only acceptable latency is around 1 to max 2 ms...

Teratec DMX Fire is just an audio card, good one tho still just a card,
doesn't have much to do with guitar only recording.
Actually, I think I had the same Teratec DMX Fire card
when I bought my old PC, few years ago so I guess
it was older model. biggrin.gif
