Posted by: fire Dec 12 2008, 08:32 PM

hey guys
just a short question: how to play the "normal" (not the accoustic) hotel california intro (or betteR; how was it done originally on the recording) - with fingerpicking or with a pick??

thanks!!

cheers

I never played that song, but I´d say you should play the way you feel most comfortable with. Try it with and wihtout pick and conclude what sounds best to you.

My guess would be fingerpicking. But I think if you practice it good enough (no matter what technique your using), it will sound decent eventually.

Fingerpicking or if you can Pick+fingers together (hybrid also known as Travis picking) smile.gif

Fingerpicking, or hybrid picking mate, depending what feels more confortable.

I'd also go for hybrid picking, but pure finger picking or only using the pick would work fine too if those techniques feel better for you.
