GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Gmc Keywords Hunt Competition

GMC KEYWORDS HUNT COMPETITION!
Let's shape our site together!

You have probably noticed underlined words in the lessons and forum : http://screencast.com/t/Yjuoz5xoVq
These are GMC Keywords and those words are clickable and offer quick explanation for various terms.

Examples : Palm muting, Fusion, Arpeggio (try clicking on the words)
______________________________________

How to enter the competition:

1. Find as many keywords which are not currently in the database (the ones that are NOT underlined and clickable when browsing the lessons, forum...) - yet should be explained.

2. Write down the short explanation for each keyword in this format : "Keyword - short explanation/description"

Example : "Palm Muting - Palm muting is a playing technique performed by placing the outer side of the picking hand, below the little finger, against the strings near the bridge. This deadens or mutes the strings, resulting in a tighter sound. This is an ideal technique for chunky metal riffs!"

3. Send us your entries to : [email protected] or via forum http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?act=Msg&CODE=4&MID=3410

The more entries/keywords you submit the better chances of winning!
We'll look both at quantity of newly discovered keywords and descriptions/explanations text and format.
Tip for the texts: try to explain and define the term/keyword in as shortest possible text.

Our instructors often say this - thinking about and trying to explain different guitar terms/topics, even the simplest ones, is a very good learning experience and gives you a whole new perspective. We hope that you'll get a chance to explore our lessons archive and forum more in depth and learn new things while writing the explanations for the keywords/unexplained terms you find. After the competition is over - we will also update all the keywords and add the ones that you have discovered - lets shape our site together for current and future GMCer generations!

A couple more questions.

All those definitions link up to this page http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page It seems that it only takes the definition header . So are we suppose to edit the wiki or just send you the definitions?

What are we allowed to define? Can we give a better definition of Palm Muting, if it were the case or just definitons that haven´t been created. Regardless of that, are we also allowed to make definitions not only for techniques but artists?

Kind regards,

korblitz

Very good questions! smile.gif

Q: So are we suppose to edit the wiki or just send you the definitions?
A : No need for editing wiki. You just need to send in definitions in this format : "Keyword - definition"

Q: What are we allowed to define? Can we give a better definition of Palm Muting, if it were the case or just definitons that haven´t been created.
A : Let's focus primarily on definitions that haven't been created yet (the ones that are not underlined on the site).

Q: Regardless of that, are we also allowed to make definitions not only for techniques but artists?
A: Absolutely! Please feel free to send in definitions for any keywords/terms you find useful. For example : artists, music genres, theory terms, guitar parts, software terms, abbreviations and any term that would benefit from having a clickable additional explanation and that is not already included in our database.

Please let me know if you have any questions and good luck with the hunt! wink.gif
