sad.gif Couldnt believe it when i read this in the national papers.

It's a real shame. He made it all the way to 94 though, and he made the most out of his time.
The guy even performed local shows after he turned 90.. a real legend

maybe some wallpapers too.

... could also re-task the "next competition" to be something in his honour as well.

Seen him live some years ago. He was still gigging at the Iridium in Manhattan. Was a really nice evening.

This guy was my hero, he was an inventor as well as a guitarist, a brilliant mind. He is behind many music inventions, multitrack recording, looper (before the digital age!!!), truly an inspiration.

My wife told me about this book a year or so ago. Les Paul: In His Own Words. I remember her saying she new the author and some other things, but she's my wife so I don't really listen. ;-) After Les....I mean Mr Paul passed away she ordered the book.
I am reading through it now and it is a very fun read. Lots of stories about the old days. One is about scratching a buddies (another player - Joe Wolverton) Gibson L-5, which I guess was a prize possession back in the late 20's early 30's, on a pin ball machine on the square right here in Springfield MO. He had it repaired at a local furniture store and his buddy only found out years later when he told him about it. These guys were serious about the guitar. They went straight to the Gibson factory just after the depression here to get their guitars. There is a lot of cool pictures and I only just started reading so maybe more stories and a pic or 2 later on.

I changed the link to go directly to the authors site if you want to purchase the book.
