Im looking for some new computer speakers.. does anyone have any suggestions on some good ones for music? Nothing too pricy, but some that sound good.. I just bought some that im gonna take back, they sound terrible.

I use Creative Inspire T3100 (2.1 speakers), and they are really good for the price, really nice sound I even bought a second set for my girlfriend's laptop, and even play podX3 through them.

has anyone heard jbl creature II 2 speakers? I want something i can plug my mp3 player into and also mix stuff i do on guitar.

If you are going to mix then active monitors would be the way to go. But those aren't cheap!

Active monitors are powered, that means they have their own power source, and they don't need a sepparate amplifier as passive ones would need.

Same thing I'm wondering. You can get some decent active monitors fairly inexpensive to run right out of your pod...

Here's a step up from the 5 inchers I have and I'm completely happy with them.. Ending soon though...

I was in the same boat a while back. The problem is, you have to have a limit of what you want them to do, and you have to have a budget in mind.

For me, I was hoping to monitor Roland drums and play some guitar. The trouble is, these two things are not as compatible as I thought.

For the budget minded, there is a lot of bang for the buck in the Logitech Z-2300 speaker system. They are powered speakers. They might be fine for music and some guitar, but they may clip pretty quick with guitar. They are sufficient for low volumes, but then you run into the problem of clarity. If you don't have clarity at low volume, then you might as well not use that type of speaker.

I went with active studio monitors. There are some less expensive ones from Samson, with a slight increase in price to ones from Tapco and then the sky is the limit. I went with some Mackie's with 5" woofer. I looked at 8" woofer, but then I got into a tug of war between quality and price.

The Mackie's were the most bang, for MY buck. My budget was about $500 Canadian Dollars though.

You can usually get a good deal on Behringer stuff, but it's hit or miss quality wise. Those ones that Skennington posted are the idea I was thinking about, in terms of active 5" studio monitors. I think you'll be happiest with that in the long run. You can add a sub at a later date, if you want as well.

Just some ideas.

I want to keep my budget at 100 dollars and under... I play my guitar through my amp on clean with my pod x3, all i would need is something to play and mix what i recorded, and to listen to my zune with.. I got some cheap ones that im gonna take back, but i want something thats gonna sound good

For what you are looking for and wanting to spend, I don't think you could go wrong with either brand. Personally, I would go for the Bose..

yeah but i heard bose arent good for listening to metal.. I dont want to blow out another set of speakers

Not sure about the newer models man, but I owned a set of 901's years ago and they were great listening to metal. However, they were a bit larger and not a set of computer speakers but the quality was top notch. I can only suspect that there newer stuff is just as good, if not better..

They are a bit more over your budget but well worth it. If you cannot get these, definitely get some 2.1 speakers system for PC, because with just satellites you will have a very limited bass response. Altec Lansing 2.1 sets is another great thing to consider.
