It's that time again! Time for the weekly Theory Quiz. The questions are posted below, with the answers under the Spoiler sign.

If you want to post your results I'll be happy to check them out and see how you're doing, offering any guidance if needed. Just be sure to use the Spoiler button on the left of the box so you don't show your answers to others.

Do you mean a dominant 7th arpeggio?

G is the perfect fifth above C, then G#?

A seventh above A = G.. then diminished 7th above A = Gb?

this whole d7 dmaj7th is throwing me
c# is the 7th of the scale?
so the d7 would use the c# and the maj7th would use the c ( out of the mixo mode ?)or am I backwards

I dont always respond , but am learning my theory through this . thanks

All good! Just make sure you use b's and not #'s over the Gm7 arpeggio, Bb is in the key so even though A# is the same note, Bb is "more correct" for lack of a better term.

And yes, when I said 7th arpeggio I mean Dominant 7th, most of the time we just shorten things up and say 7th rather than Dominant 7th to save time/space.

Hey, you just have it backwards, the Dmaj7 chord would be 1 3 5 7 or D F# A C#, then D7 would have a b7, so 1 3 5 b7 or D F# A C. That's all.

Yeah, for Dmaj7 your first mode would be D Ionian, D7 would be D Mixolydian and Dm7 would be either D Aeolian or D Dorian depending if it was a rock or fusion/jazz situation.

It depends on whether you are talking about an African or European swallow. The airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow is roughly 11 meters per second...
