Hi PosterBoy!! Welcome to your personal Gab's Army thread!

Could you please tell me a bit about you, your musical tastes, influences, strengths and weaknesses? You told me that you want to work on modern rock, punk, metal, post-hardcore rhythm guitar. I really dig those styles so we will have lots of fun here!
I would need some videos of you playing rhythm and solo guitar, so please post your best material here. If you have some music or ideas of your own, also post them here.

I already have this post from you..

"I'd like to work on Rhythm work with you

While I like listening to bands like Story of The Year, Close Your Eyes, A Day to Remember, Rise Against etc I have no real experience playing it and working out the different rhythm guitar part that are layered, or composing similar tracks myself, though it is where I want to be."

The principles of our Army are:

+ Improve your technique
+ Make music and solos
+ Have fun
+ Destroy the enemy (hahaha not realy just kidding... )

Hey Gab

I was having trouble syncing the video and Audio (with Drum groove) so I uploaded them separately (and forgot to edit the beginning and ends!).

I'll post more examples of a more rocky nature tomorrow.

I saw this yesterday and had to get it

I'm using Reaper, but I have to use it on my netbook, which isn't very powerful at all. My old laptop is dying. I'm just about to sell some pedals and stuff to buy a new pc for recording.

For some reason the drum loop I used sounded really loud when mixing but didn't come through in the render.

that's weird! Maybe there are some exporting settings that are wrong.

When do you think that the rocker videos will be uploaded?

I just knocked this up for you

Not particularly punk or hardcore but this is as rocky as I'm allowed to get at church!

No video just audio. Let me know if you need video and I'll mute the solo guitar and play along

Hi Posterboy! that audio clip sound good. Your timing is perfect on this one!
I will give you a Punk lesson of my own as a starting point to our job together. I'm choosing this lesson because it sounds a bit like Offspring but it has also some vibes from Rise Against or even some harmonized guitar like Story of the year. Please learn this lesson, tell me how it feels, if it's too difficult or if it's too easy... and then record a video to be posted here and at the REC.

Check it out!

I'm going to enjoy this one. Just the thing to get me away from chugging 8th note down stroke rhythms!

I shall learn it and post back

Thanks

Almost at the 190 bpm

The 'power chord' section at that speed has made me change from my normal downstroke way of playing it to alt picking, so I'm having to relearn that part again, now way I can play downstrokes that fast!

I'm having great fun with this and my right hand technique is getting worked hard and is improving greatly with all the string crossing etc

Hi man! Thanks for the update! It's ok to use alternate strumming in fast punk songs unless your name is Johnny Ramone! biggrin.gif

New year and new pc, that should do anything I throw at it.

Let's restart this!

I've enrolled with Todd to get my AP and technique in order and restarting this for rhythm guitar and the composition side of things (arranging and creating 2nd and 3rd guitar parts etc)
