Insomnium are cool. They have some epic moments...great melodies, cool riffs.

I don't usually like super cookie monster vocals, but it seems too work well...I look at it as another percussive instrument. Plus I like some of their lyrics... Of course, I read what I couldn't understand. biggrin.gif

so for metal bands:

Opeth
Ulver (well they haven't been metal for the last 10 years, but still one of the best bands ever)
Wolves in the Throne Room
Katatonia
Agalloch
Morbid Angel
Deathspell Omega
Negurâ Bunget
Isis
Cult of Luna

That'll be enough for now.

For rock bands, check out Porcupine Tree and Anathema.

EDIT: How could I forget isis and cult of luna?

lol, then you're wrong. I'm not a huge fan of them, and I must say I prefer Kayo Dot, but I'm not a huge fan of them either.

Toby Driver is pretty awesome smile.gif
Speaking of Toby Driver, his new band Kayo Dot has some pretty amazing stuff, Choir Of The Eyes and Blue Lambency Downwards are beautiful!

Besides Kayo Dot,
Boris
Cult Of Luna
Back When
Amenra
Rosetta
YOB
Isis
Slave Traitor
and Grief
Basically anything thats considered Doom Metal is pretty awesome, you should totally look into it, you learn to like it laugh.gif

Hay!
I'm always gonna say Killswitch, Bullet and Bodom for metal!

But i recently came across a metal band that's totally fresh and off the wall!!!!!
I think tey're from the U.S they called PROTEST THE HERO,
First album is called Kezia but the one that sold me is their second release Fortress! WOW!!!!!

For hard rock look no further than Alter Bridge!!!

Good to see there are more mOTW fans out there!

Related bands: I love Kayo Dot, Toby's self release, and Tarter Lamb. They aren't really metal though, more classical...

If you can find it, check out Maudlin of the Well, you won't be dissapointed! Jazz-Metal at it's best....
