Hi Monica, Do you know of any good resources to learn Ableton? I have it as well but man it seems a bit confusing. I've been using Mixcraft but I know that Ableton (from what I've been told) is much more powerful. Did you learn just by messing around in it? Hi Wavo, First time I learn it in a quick way the basic. I mean 24 hours. In that period I was totally parallel with musical programs In one day a guy gave me a project to do and I must compose a song for a photograph site. In that moment I realize that if I want to don't lose the project I must learn a program. Somebody show me how to make first settings in Ableton and how to connect my instrument. Next 24 hours was full of experiments I tried to find tutorials and was enough for a beginning. Next day I start already to compose. In one week I was ready with the song and the result of recording was really cool. But after this I wasn't satisfied with what I learned and I start to try every button to see what it's doing. At this moment I'm very attached from this program and I still try to find new tips and tricks All my recordings are made with Ableton so you can hear exactly how it sound. This is the story how I learn it You can find some tutorials on YT or if you want another short way, I can tell you which are the steps to setting all and how to make a recording session from the start at the end in the most simple way. If you use Guitar Rig you will be very satisfied how it will sound your guitar using Ableton Also here you can find some very useful tutorials: https://www.ableton.com/en/help/learn-live/ http://abletonlife.com/10-of-the-best-able...tutorial-videos |

Thank you Monica! I suppose there's no better way to learn a program than when you have to learn it...right? I'm not in that position so every time I try to use Ableton and try to get it setup I get frustrated and try something else. I will look at these tutorials and see what I can learn. Part of my problem before was that my audio interface was giving me problems, I think I have it dialed in now (I hope). Thanks for your help! I'm going to get to playing! |

I had a look at it the other day for software synth live performance situations hosting Omnisphere and other stuff.
It's so different to other DAWs I've used I was lost straight away. -------------------- My SoundCloud

Monica, Do you have Standard or Suite? I chose standard, mainly because I already have a lot of VST synths that I like, and I didn't see the need for the drum library and orchestral library (I already have software for that). Is the suite version worth the extra money? Is there any real advantage for me in this case? I have version 8 Suite. I also use some VST synths but in Suite you can find some very cool effects. I always like it to have all things possible, maybe someday I will need all of these I'm very cautious and I don't want to waste time finding stuff when I need them urgently. The difference between Standard and Suite it's expensive, almost 250 EUR. I don't know how much you will use Ableton library if you already have VST synths that you like. It's a good thing to have a program full but if you don't need to use all these, Standard version it's a good choice You can see here which are the differences between Intro, Standard and Suite. https://www.ableton.com/en/live/feature-comparison/ This post has been edited by Monica Gheorghevici: Mar 28 2014, 12:23 PM |

I have Line 6 UX2 and I can say that was a very good choice. I never had problems with her and wasn't expensive. I sent you what I said in PM

So what do you guys think? Has anyone used Studio One and Ableton Live before? What were the main pros and cons of each?
