We had an discussion on the topic a while ago, so I found an answer to the question stated in the post.
Look at this guy (guy's). Robin is 62 now, this footage is from his 60'th birthday at Rockpalast in 2008. Btw. he is one of the most under-rated guitar players ever, and is a must in the history of the electric guitar. Thanks Staffay Trower is an awesome player
 and 'Bridge of sighs' is probably one of 'desert island discs'. If I remember correctly he was considered to be up there with Clapton and Beck back in the late 60s/early 70s by blues and rock guitar players but was largely ignored by the general public.

Also there was Rory Gallagher, but he was more sort of a standard rock player to me, what I can remember. I know about Robin, have few his instructional videos, and from what I saw there he is a serious player.
