Hey,

I found this competition on the ultimate metal board: Guitar Tone Competition

It seems to be a pretty cool idea for a competition, you get a drum(+bass) track and 2 DI Tracks(Guitar L + R). The Rules are listed in the link above.

It would be cool when some guys from GMC would enter the competition aswell, I am in for sure. The winner gets a high quality slate plugin set, but there is an instructional purpose as well. Signal and fx chains will be posted so you can comprehend how the people did create the amazing tones.

best luck and regards,
Skalde

Nice competition, would like to participate but don't have time. Perhaps we can organize something similar here on GMC as well! smile.gif

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

I would go for it, if it wasn't shared how I did it. Don't wanna be selfish, but if people like it, and start copying it, it starts to get less original. Even though my tone is a bit copied from someone else, I had to learn to achieve it, and be concious of what I use. To supply that is just a cheap way of people going for the copy without thinking about it. Either don't do that, or suggest some tips for people to achieve those tones and they can find the rest for themselves.

If you use them to learn a song without even trying to learn it by ear, than no.

Hey rated, i wouldn't care about that, some time ago a realized that even if you got piece by piece the same rig and settings as other guitar player, you will never sound the same, it's all in the hands man, don't worry about people trying to imitate you, if they are trying is because you are good wink.gif

how to mix and produce a particular song or solo,
