Just before Christmas I succumbed to a total "impulse" buy.
Squier paranormal 'cyclone'. ... https://shop.fender.com/en-US/squier-electr...0377010556.html

I've always wanted a shell pink Fender so I couldn't resist. It was a store demo model and pretty inexpensive (they're cheap to start with). The scale length is 24.75" (Gibson scale) whereas standard Fender scale is 25.5". *Mustangs and Duo Sonics are also shorter scale though 24" and 22" respectively. The guitar definitely plays differently than any of my other Fenders and the slanted Strat pkups make it sound different.
It plays well but the input jack, pots, wiring and tuning machines are really cheap. That's where the Chinese Squiers (and non US or Japan Fenders) cut cost - hardware and electronics. The pickups are stock, 'normal' import Strat pkups - neither great nor terrible. I have a set of better Strat pkups laying around that I may throw in.

That looks like a lovely instrument, would love to hear what kind of tones you can squeeze out of it!

Sounds great Ken, my last comment may look strange after your last comment, we both must've been posting at the same time and you just clicked "post" a split second before me laugh.gif

laugh.gif Yes, I thought the same thing. I'll do a video with it sometime soon. It's a surprisingly good playing guitar for the price.

@Caelumamittendum ... thanks Storm. How's the album coming along?

Thanks for asking and showing interest. I finished 7 songs out of 10 as sort of demos. People were telling me the mix sounded flat, so I started over, but kind of lost interest, and now my mind has wandered off to new ideas for another project. But I hope I can come back to it in 2012.

EDIT: 2021 obviously.

Killer tones there Ken, I love how focused the wah sound is - cuts through like a knife! And great phrases, I get Sco vibes with your expressive touch and jazz meets blues creative ideas!

Really liked the color smile.gif must listen to it more to gain a tone opinion but it has a familiarity likely from a classic album I can't remember now.

The front pickup is very much a classic Strat sound but the other tones are definitely different from any other Fender. At least any Fender that I've had. The one Fender that it's most similar to is a Mustang - which I've never owned. The scale length has IMO a dramatic affect on the feel and the tone.
