Microphone Storage

I have a mirophone that sits in a shockmount when I'm using it. It's kind of heavy (~1lb) and I'm wondering what you guys think about leaving it in its shockmount or taking it out when it's not in use. I'm not sure if the tension in the shockmount from the weight of the mic over long periods will start to stretch the bands out or not.

Well I think its always better to take the microphone off the stand and into its case/box..If nothing , it will perserve it from dust and dirt build up over time ..

Some microphones( e.g shure57) come with a bag. It's a good place to keep it.

I hadn't really thought of the dust issue.

Mine didn't really come with a bag. Got it used on ebay. The bag was missing, but I got a shockmount, stand and cable. biggrin.gif

I have other things I can put my mic into to protect it. Will do that.
