Last year I told myself I would try and live healthier. I started going to the gym once a week. I took a month off due to this last past holiday season, but other than that I went at least once a week. I also started eating healthier minus that month as well.

Now I'm back to eat better again and hitting the gym back up. Today I made scrambled eggs for breakfast no salt nothing else just straight eggs. smile.gif Feels great to get back on that path!

Posted by: Gitarrero Jan 2 2013, 01:44 PM

The usual, eat healthier, lose weight laugh.gif

Well, this time I have a written down plan, written down goals and I'm committed, losing weight is my No. 1 priority.

Other than that, I first have to fully recover from the flu...so I can't do sports at the moment.

that's why I play guitar a lot...I wanna tackle and master some more advanced GMC lessons this year and become a more well-rounded solo player. I know I have developed quite a bit last year even though I didn't really pay attention to technique practice. This year, I will become even better and practice with a good routine.

2.To get a job,

I like the word goal rather than a reslutions
coming up on 5 years at Gmc, joining was to help me with speed picking, mainly outside picking . On a good day I might be able to play 16th's at 130- my goal being 180.( I can sometimes do short bursts in certain scales but I want to be able increase that endurance

learning how to build a building business in this junk our ruling class calls a recovery
they just passed a bill( to protect the middle class they say)to tax people earning over 450,000, but what hey failed to mention is that they did not renew a payroll tax exemption that will cost the middle class an average 70 dollars a month( yeah government)

on the lighter side
we are expecting a new baby Jan. 13th and as of right now my wife and seven kids all have the flu( lucky for me this strain is not inducing vomit rolleyes.gif )

My Goals ,

getting back the light way into sport to loose a bit weight

concentrate more on inside myself for better harmony around me

Got to go more into fretboard and experimenting more ... i know timing rhythm issues and all that too dry.gif

all together spending more time with guitar without forget my family

and try doing something social - to many aggressions on the road !

This year will be

Get back into good shape, I have my diet and workout plan ready to start.

Work on guitar technique and composition, both in solo-ing and rhythm parts, and also really start to nail down theory on the fretboard, studying triads and arpeggios etc. I want my note choices to be deliberate rather than guess work or just pattern based

Get an EP recorded.

Also I want to really help and support my wife with her goals

Join some more GMC-Collabs.

Run a marathon in less than 4 hours.

Have a kid.

and off course the gym and lose weight part.

Posted by: bleez Jan 2 2013, 05:49 PM

well since joining gmc last year and getting my eyes opened and realising what it takes to become a decent guitarist, I just want to get consistent practising done over the next year and be one more step closer to awesome.

I have a few of specific goals which I want to blast through on my way:
There's a couple of Cosmins lessons which require me to be better at bending..... I wanna get those nailed!
Gabes Black Sabbath lesson ( the reason I joined gmc! ) - I need to increase my playing of that lesson by about 15 BPM to get it at the correct speed. I dunno if that is achievable in a year but I aim to do my best.
Ive got into writing songs lately so I really want to continue with that and learn more about analysing other songs and be able to understand how they are put together.

As for things outside music? meh..... I'll just leave that part of my life to the usual chaos that it is cool.gif

Posted by: Sensible Jones Jan 2 2013, 05:49 PM

My goal is to study some more lessons here, improve my co-ordination, timing, phrasing etc!
Join more Collabs.
Learn how to use all my new Software that i got last year!
And finally, finish several Guitar projects that are all unfinished in my Workshop and build a few more Custom Orders this year!!

Ha laugh.gif Ulrik that's my goal to run a sub 4 marathon this year. I've done 4.20 and 4.04 but I'm hitting the wall about 35km mark.

I really want to develop my ear this year NO.1 - so working out songs is high on my agenda.
Work on playing and singing also
Learn how to make awesome backing tracks.
Keep Ben and Gabe and all GMC instructors busy hassling (could be considered tormenting) them. There pain is my gain he he biggrin.gif

I did 4.17 in 2011 and in 2012 I had a reasonable speed, but my knee started to hurt all too much after 17 km

Posted by: SirJamsalot Jan 2 2013, 07:55 PM

Trying out for a new band - hopefully we're a match and the other musicians are good. It's a start-up. Looking to concentrate more on guitar and less on vocals, but doing harmonies and backup vocals is the focus of this group.

Playing more shows.
Practicing more.
Making money gigging (haha, righhhhht....)

Posted by: Todd Simpson Jan 2 2013, 09:59 PM

Great question! I'd like to spend more time on things that aren't directly connected to making money. E.G. more writing music, recording music, sharing music. Just for the sake of the Music!!!

Todd

What are your goals for this new year?

Posted by: Spock Jan 2 2013, 10:32 PM

Of course I have all the standard goals; grow a foot taller, make a Billion dollars, become Dictator of the United States. As far as guitar goes I want to be able to improvise effectively, doesn't have to be shredding, just be able to put together some tasteful melodic patterns over whatever is playing, without writing them in my head and picking them out of there first. I would like to have a basic understanding of theory and also be able to nail that Level 6 Modern Metal Solo - Marco Sfogli.

Oh, and quit smoking of course, I'm using one of those e-Cigs now, I'm officially a vapor nerd.

Posted by: vonhotch Jan 3 2013, 02:13 AM

My music goal is to write and have enough material for an EP by this time next year. Even if it's only 2 or 3 songs. Non musicall goals are just to be happier than I was last year.

Posted by: Gabriel Leopardi Jan 3 2013, 04:19 AM

Inspiring posts guys! It's very cool to read everybody's love for music and guitar. Thanks for sharing your goals here! smile.gif

Need to improve my blues playing, so i could speed it up and incorporate it into cool light-speed heavy metal licks cool.gif

Posted by: Blackjack94 Jan 4 2013, 04:23 AM

My goals for 2013 are:

-Practice all day (i love it) taking it very seriously without distractions (xbox) laugh.gif
-Improve my tapping and my control
-Try to learn some theory
-experiment with a 7 string guitar (i really want one!)

My goals are very simple, the hardest one is stop playing xbox...i waste a lot of time shooting people haha

Sell the Xbox and you are rid of all the problems smile.gif Or you could discipline yourself and play only 30 min of Xbox/ day. It's even better - it's also a form of practice - practicing balance, that is wink.gif

Keeping the studio open and independent is my main goal.
My second is seeing our trainee sound engineer finish here and hopefully move on to a placement at another studio to broaden her experience both in sound engineering
and also living in a different country as she wants to work outside of Spain.

It's clear! If Gabe says the same thing - you have to get rid of it biggrin.gif You know, here in Romania we have a saying - 'If two people tell you that you are drunk, it means you really are' - extrapolating - If two people tell you to sell your x-box, what you have to do is quite clear biggrin.gif

Posted by: Doug Lane Dec 29 2013, 05:54 PM

My goals for 2014 are to start gigging again in the local area, pick up keyboard again, and maybe start noodling around with drums. I will soon begin work on a free release album, but I need to complete my equipment rig with an electric bass, a better acoustic, a great set of monitors, and a good microphone for vocals and acoustic guitars. I'll probably be selling my yellow RG and my backpacker acoustic to facilitate this.

Posted by: Bossie Jan 1 2014, 03:04 AM

My goal is restoring an old les paul style guitar i just bought...it's a one of a kind instrument build in 74 in Berlin.
hope i can pull it off by myself cause it needs lots of work!

I joined some collabs, and I think this was the most fun to do:

In July I ran 43km in 3:59:02
http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/215834185/809408

In January we lost our unborn son. But around the beginning of March 2014 we will see a future GMC-member I think.

...and the weight is about the same as last year.

This year I'll focus on 5km and 10km running.

As for music, I have sheduled my bass and guitar playing for January, and I hope that will make me practise more.
