Hi guys.
Is there someting wrong with me or the guitar. I dont seem to get any sustain on the higher strings above about 12 fret.
Is it my lack of vibrato or is it likely to mean I need new strings. These are about a month old and have been played every day.
Thanks for any help or comments you may have.
My first thought would be:
1) Either your action is set too low, so strings can't maintain vibration.
2) The relief of your neck is not right, which in effects is also resulting in a wrong action.
as Roger said, it's probably the action. although strings loose some sustain when getting older, they don't loose all of it or extremely much. they tend to get a little duller and a little less articulated. so check your action, maybe it's too low and when you pick hard the string bounces against the frets (this doesn't make any fretbuzz but takes away the sustain as you have described).
If you haven't messed with guitar setup and action it just may be the strings...but its a slim chance..Possible the action is too low and it prevents string from vibrating and though loosing sustain..
Thanks guys
Ive raised the action a smidge and its a bit better.
