I noticed there are a lot of lessons with "Etude" in the title - what exactly does this mean?

A short song, usually written for pedagogical or instructional use. Got that on google. Yep! I believe it's the French word for "study". |

Oh - I didn't think to Goggle it - I thought it was a GMC copywrited term. Thanks, mh Not at all. I think it's quite an old term. |

.... and etude sounds alot more fancy than just "study"

Glad I read this thread, I always wondered what "etude" standed for, but was too lazy to google it

I think etude is term used for composition
which is made for practicing,kind a technical topic. So it's not just random exercises, it IS piece of music but involves some technical challenges as well. -------------------- Youtube

Yep! I believe it's the French word for "study". Oui! Etude means study, and Etudier means to study so an Etude (or in French une Etude) would mean a study. |
