How does he do that? Jeeeeez that makes me sound like a silly guitar noob When I try on my guitar the note last about a second or two. Anyone know why? I know that when I have an overdrive to boost my distortion that everything is boosted up and the sustain is much greater. So yea, try to put on an overdrive boost on top of your distortion. Or maybe just hot pickups. Well I have an evolution pickup which im installing in a few days, so we'll see about that theory. And I just had a thought, it might be the intonation? The guitar type - some are better than others, the heavier the better. Les Pauls are heavy and are noted for their sustain 2. The bridge - fixed bridge guitars (hardtails) have more sustain because energy is lost in the string when transferred to a tremelo system 3. Compression - this is a type of effect that can boost sustain if used correctly, for a longer clean sound 4. Overdrive/Distortion - either of these also have a compressing effect with a different type of sound 5. Pickups - hotter pickups give you sound for quieter striung movement, and when used with compression distortion or overdrive they add to the sustain.
