Disciples, you have braved 1 year of inhospitable conditions, knuckle pushup before breakfast and constant threats of reprisals for any missed Tasks. Now we have arrived at our very last Bushido Task together....... pick up your guitars and shred for The Temple one last time...

This one is quite a tough little number as it requires some fiddly economy picking and wide stretches. Not only that, but there's minimal percussion.

All the necessary info is in the lesson so let's keep this short before we get too friendly.

Well done. Many started but the ones who are left can always be counted on one hand. Be proud, gentlemen.

Seriously, though, I have looked at this lesson and it's a really fun one to play. It has one ripping fast OAP run and I'm not entirely comfortable with the 2 note things, but it should be doable.

Edit: I noticed that you was fast enough to change the date before I posted.

Quick question: Excuse my lack of theory, but what does the G/B chord combo mean in the lesson? I've seen it in other lesson and never really understood it.

The B note is the bass note played instead of G. So it's a type of inversion. So you play the G chord but the
bottom note is B. I think people call them slash chords? I use them a lot and they really add a lot to a chord progression
One way you may use them is say. C /// G/B /// Am/// F///. So you step Down C,B,A sort of thing.

No worries. I think everybody seems to name these chords slightly differently but it's those 'halfway chords'. If you played 2nd fret on A string and 5th fret on D string. Say you were playing a C5 powerchords then you drop the lowest note down to play a B. It's those major sounding chords

Yeah i remember when I first discovered that shape. I was so ecstatic because it was like it all opened up and I was finally able to achieve a sound in certain riffs that I'd been missing.

Well, this was a tough piece to get down! These licks are not for the faint-hearted.

As usual, I have a couple rough and "interpreted" spots. I think for the most part I got it down. The fast lick @ :25 was/is the trickiest spot for me. I think I need to go back and try and figure out a better way to pick this lick.

Sounding out all the trills in the beginning was extra challenging. Especially once fatigue starts setting in after multiple takes and the hand strength isn't all there.

Favourite spots to play:

The down stroke two-string sweeping lick at the end! At first it was a little odd for me to play... but really like the sound of it over these chords.

The whole run @ :30 is quite fun to play and sounds cool synced up with the keys/trumpet synth.

Love that pre-bend/vibrato note you play at :47. I couldn't quite capture that moment so just went with something I could muster up.



Since this is the last Bushido Task I'll be doing at The Temple, I figured I'd throw in some extra notes:

The food here SUCKS. It is horrible enough to make a billy goat puke.

My fingers have been numb for months and this weather here is just cruel and abysmal...

So with these numb fingers, countless lost hours, guitar push-ups, and many broken strings, I must find my way to the nearest Ski lodge and get the bleep off this mountain.

I'll be out of town for some days, so I might try to record a take at reduced speed today. Some parts are just SO DARN FAST.

Ohh Emmm Jeeeee !!! That was awesome ! I so enjoyed that ! You actually looked really un bothered running through that

Your tone really fits this well too, with the rounded out sound making the notes pop out.

Thanks Ben. My ease of performance might be misleading since I spent the better part of the weekend getting down a whole take! I was doing these two hour blocks of recording audio.... I do this sometimes for practice and getting feedback from the recording. I get caught up in it and sometimes don't realize where the time went. Its usually how I go about most lessons.

I was going with a Les Paul at first cause it was a little easier to play some of the licks. But then I thought the Strat just sounded more interesting to me over the backing. Usually I do a bit of EQing with my guitar after recording. This time it was just the straight signal and it seemed to fit nice.
