Normally this is where I would stop playing guitar, and not thinik about picking it up for another 16 years, but this is where I want to change. There is so much information out there. I am sufferring from information overload.
Here is my goal. I want to play Metal Rhythm Guitar. I would like my lessons to be structured around that.
So far I know how to play the beginning of "Am I Evil" from Metallica. I know a few basic power chords, some finger tapping. I like melodies, but my fingers are too slow, as well as my brain right now. As I stated in my intro post. My favorite bands are Three Days Grace, Chevelle, and Metallica (old Metallica, Master of Puppets days). Other influences Incubus, Filter, Awaken from The Damning Well really inspires me to play, Atomship, and Radio Head. If anyone can point me in the right direction, or have been where I am, and can provide some guidance. It would be much appreciated. I just don't want to play "Mary had a little lamb.", or "Kuumbiah".
I am not going to quit though. I did that enough in my life. So back to "Am I evil".

I can feel your problem but maybe you should try
to somehow spread your music tastes more widely,
Metal is great and riffing is very cool thing to do on the stage
but try some chords as well, simple stuff like majors, minors
and eventually few 7th chords and then simple songs using those chords,
you'll see that music offers much more
and that might give you some extra motivation! smile.gif

I am not opposed to doing chords, I just know for myself to stay interested I have to utilize what I learn to be like the music I like to listen to. I think if you see from my list of bands that they have range in the metal genre from heavy to rock metal to progressive. I like chords, and I know its something I need to learn. You are right. I need to be more open. I am just finding the learning curve to be getting steeper, and steeper. Thanks for the reply.
