Songs can bring back memories. First check out Laszlo's new lesson, "Europe - The Final Countdown", and then post a reply to today's topic.

Where were you when you first heard Europe's "The Final Countdown"? If you can't remember, what do you immediately think of when you hear the song?

I believe I first heard that song in summer like a zillion years ago, it reminds me of the swimming pool laugh.gif smile.gif

I think my friend got the record the day it was released and we listened to it in his room later that evening or the day after.
Not sure how it went down exactly, can’t even recall which pair of shoes I put on this morning biggrin.gif I was a fan of their music and I thought “Wings of Tomorrow” was a rock solid album.
For those who missed it “Last look at Eden” is a great record.

I can't remember hearing it the first time... I do remember, a few years ago, seeing footage of Europe 'playing' it on Top Of The Pops..
The BBC also used the song as background music for the horse racing programme, Grandstand... so when I hear the song I have a mixed memory of Europe on TOTP and of horses jumping over hedges. tongue.gif

I think I was in my house watching it on TV. The first thing I think of is space?

Funny story, but true . I lost my virginity while a friend of mine played it on a keyboard in the next room .we were really young and I think he only knew about three songs at the time and this just happened to be one of them.. The final countdown was very appropriate considering the 10 seconds the event lasted . And I get joked on to this day about it ..anyway thats what it reminds me of.. Utter failure at the age of 15
