Gothic/synth Effects?

I'm looking for a good effects set-ups for a gothic and synth... What do you use? Or know what others use to achieve this style? Thanks!

Muting while tapping...

I'm sorry if this has been brought up before, but I didn't find anything while looking up past topics.
I couldn't understand why my tapping sounded so messy, until I finally realized that it wasn't the string that I was tapping on made all the noise. What is the technique to mute the rest of the strings while tapping? But at the same time, on the videos, it doesn't look like Kris is muting the other strings. How does it sound so clean without muting? I mean, I'm not messy when tapping and hitting other strings as well, but simply hitting the fretboard is vibrating the other strings on my guitar...

Syn Gates?

This would be my first post here, I want to say thanks alot Kirs! I started playing in September (Joined GMC in November) and I've already made leaps and bounds with your teaching videos; faster than I ever thought I could learn!

I know Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold isn't anywhere close to a guitar legend, but I have been truly mesmerized by his solos. I would really appreciate it if somebody could tell me what scales he uses and the other nuances in his style of play! Thanks!
