Simply put, it maps a C/Am scale to any scale of your choosing. For someone that either doesn't 'know' the scales or just isn't proficient enough on a keyboard, this will improve your workflow and make composition a lot easier. And for someone like me, who plays by 'feel' on a guitar, it's a nice bit of natural ear training for modes etc.
