Hey Gmc I'm proud to announce a new member to the family! This was my dads old peavey predator and I stripped it, routed and shaped it and sanded all the way to 2500 grit. My 6 year old son drew his awesome pictures all over it and my wife tied it all together and made it into a piece of art. After the art I used a 2 part automotive clear coat and wetsanded and buffed. I also sanded and buffed the black plate the pickups sit in too. Here is a video of the progressPeavey Predator

The backing track is a new track I'm working on.... How's it sound? I'm still working on every part in it so please any feedback would be awesome!

Thanks guys!

Hey man thanks! I'm excited too, that is/was a vocal song and I'm trying my best to listen to pro recordings and compare my mixes. I play everything bass/synths on piano and program the rest. I do play real bass and real guitar too lol! I'll keep up to date

I use the word "Awesome" in way too many posts on the forum but this is truly AWESOME! First off, it's a family heirloom now, 3 involved generations & that artwork is by a 6 yo???? ohmy.gif I love that artwork & it really looks amazing! I've also heard good things about Predators. Awesome work by everyone involved!

Killer job on that axe smile.gif The fact that it's a family heirloom now makes it even cooler. I didn't see a track posted? Did you leave out the soundcloud embed? Love to hear it smile.gif

Hi Todd! Thanks man! I did not post the track solo because it was so rough. Here is the track in question

There is 2 parts and I'm not sure they fit together. It kinda sounds like 2 songs but I'm not sure how to make them flow properly. Besides the music one thing I'm trying to do is bring up the volume. All my tracks are seriously under volume and I think I'm in the right direction.

It so nice to hear such positive feedback over this guitar. There were several times during the process I felt it was a bad idea and I might ruin the guitar but fortunately I did not. Having this guitar project was one of the funnest things I've ever done and my cousin who has a real wood shop said I can use it anytime. I'm planning on building my own guitar body from scratch and this time I get to be the artist. I won't draw on it, I'll let the grain do the talking.

There is a Keisel guitar that I saw recently with Bright green stain and it was just beautiful.

It's nice having a place to work on things like this. I used my dad's workshop when I tried (and somewhat succeeded in) refinishing my Hamer. Unfortunateyl they live some 2-2½ hours away from here, so I can't just go there all the time, and sanding down a guitar in my living room seems a bad idea.

Omg that would be a disaster. The stripping makes a giant mess and then finish sanding leaves a mist of fine dust. I'd like to see a picture of someone who did that. Hey maybe if anything it would give you a reason to visit? I bet 3 few hour days could do it if you had a thought out method of everything you were planning. I spent a lot of time shaping and each time I would change something I would have to start with a very rough grit and you have to step up the grit little by little until all the swirl marks are gone.

What I mean is that if I was just stripping and sanding it would take way less time...

I already did visit and refinished a guitar smile.gif It was my first attempt ever, so it didn't turn out THAT well:

And I forgot about the holes for the pick ups. For some reason I thought they wouldn't be visible laugh.gif
