Does Ps3 Play Ps2 Games?

And now I just wonder if anyone knows if PS2 games run on it? I think I remember them at first being backward compatible with the playstation 2, but that it was later removed from new-made consoles. I'm not 100% sure though. I used to play Fallout when it came out like 10 years ago. Liked it a lot so it might be my next title to get. About the 360, they won't fix it for free. Story is that I bought one when it first came out, sent it to MS via UPS when it broke. FoC. They sent me a new one back instead. This one broke and it's happened after the withdraw so they claim about 80-100 Euro to have it mended. Can't recall exactly but I think it was 80 excl shipping. The arcade is available at 150 Euro for a "refurbished" model. Same warranty, someone elses old junk. A brand cost 170-180 Euro. But judging from the bad experience with broken Xbox's I hope I found a great gaming machine and Blu ray player in one. Was on the look for a blu ray anyway. I have one of the originals, I got the MGS4 Bundle, and it is BC with my PS2 games. If you manage to buy one that is BC you shouldn't have any problems. It also is BC with PS1 games as well, I still play all my final fantasy's on it with no problem. It is more sensitive though, Scratches that you could get away with on PS1 or PS2 might not fly on PS3. My FFIX disc 3 has some scratches on it and during one video it skips and pauses, and eventually flys through the entire cinema on that part. Other than that though, it is amazing.
