Focus. Enter your "bubble". I usually sit with my guitar to warm it up. Yes, "it". Play it, tune it, until it's perfect. You know what to do when you're on stage, piece of cake. When you're warm and the guitar is warm, nothing can go wrong.

I think, if you're focused, in your own space, you can be relaxed before and throughout the gig. Staying focused takes a bit of practice I belive, to me it is to keep the things that makes you nervous out and the rest inside (the bubble)
Make any sense at all? Concentrating on staying in focus can in itself help to stay relaxed... wink.gif

Good luck!

Chill out, relax, breath. When you go on stage, let yourself be taken by the energy of the stage. Don't overthink anything. smile.gif

Edit: I'm probably too late, haha. Good luck up there! smile.gif

The only tip that worked for me is rehearsing enough and having lots of gigs! However I still feel a bit nervous when I have an important show.

Same here smile.gif for instance, I met the guys from Prodigy and Therapy? 2 days ago, around the stage and just about that moment, I realized where I was and what i was doing..that's when the emotions started kicking in actually. An important factor is the crowd! If you manage to win the crowd, their energy will come to your aid more than you'll ever know smile.gif

Don't worry.. I get this too... where the hands seem to lose their 'fine motor functions' and they end up being really innacurate !! mad.gif

Usually takes me a few songs to settle in before they relax.

Going back to your original question, I find it hard to relax when there's loads of people around me, all talking and asking questions. I hate being asked for the 100th time 'So, what time are you guys on ?' dry.gif

Some people like to get fired up before going onstage.. I'm the opposite, I like to be as calm and relaxed as possible. If I had a little, quiet room I could go and meditate in with some herbal teas I'd take it ! laugh.gif

I find that as soon as I walk on the stage and strap on my guitar I'm instantly ready ! smile.gif

Playing AC/DC over the PA is also the 100% gauranteed way to fire anyone up to rock ! cool.gif

I hope it went well. As Gab said, only thing that beats this feeling is experience. It will be better and better. People learn to live with their mistakes tho, so if it happens in couple of years time, you probably won't consider it that bad thing smile.gif

ok dude, so here is something you should see:

My way:

Before the show i just take one or two beers in the sound test with my bands friends and enjoy the moment and that marvellous feeling. then warm my voice, guitar and fingers. It´s a great idea to change the air, let me explain it, 15 minutes before the show you should do some kind of slow running o joggs. that changes the cold air of your body for a hot one. It´s like a car. you'll feel much better. try it, it's great!

I always fail some part of my solos or play them out of tempo, etc. but i don´t care man, it's rock , it's a matter of attitude, (of course in an rock environment) i just laugh about it and had a great time with my bands friend.
I saw thousands of failures of great bands, and they don't care at all.
Focus on make a good show, the solo it's just a small part of it.

That's my point of view feller- rolleyes.gif
