Well after pestering everyone here on the recording forum for the last couple of weeks asking them advice about recording. I am happy to announce that the 5 song CD that I did for my sons band is done. I am calling it a success since they sold 20 CD's at their first show and made about $150.00... not bad.
Here is a slideshow that I made of their first live show and some pictures during the recording session. I picked their song Pirates Stole My Lunch Money. Its my favorite because it gets better and better as the song moves along. Anyway I am happy for these kids they seem well on their way. smile.gif

They really promoted hard on myspace and have been doing lots of shows with other bands. It brings in a larger crowd. This type of music is really big around here with the younger kids. Half of the groups in this type of music are christian bands so that helps to get support from the parents etc.

Ya they are on cloud 9. I told them to expect the sales to drop off because they had about 15 pre sold from their fans at school who were waiting on the cd to be released. They are in that age group that has lots of money to spend on music since they do not have bills and a family yet. How times change when you get older. smile.gif

Thanks... I am just glad that they are doing something constructive. My daughter is into sports so we drive her all over the place and put her into basketball camps and go to all of her High School Games. So I try to put the same effort into my sons music since he is not into sports. I just wanted to share a successful moment and let everyone know that all the advice they gave me in the recording forum was put to good use. smile.gif I know its not the best but to these kids its everything.

Thanks Emir.
I hope this Thread did not come across as me trying to brag. I was just so excited to see these kids actually reach this point as a band. Over the last year it has been so much fun to help these guys by driving with them 3 and 4 hours with a truck full of amps and equipment and to experience the rush after a great show full of kids that are getting into the music and then all the excitement the next day and the daydreaming about the future. I have seen these kids build a fan base through lots of hard work and being respectful and patient with the younger kids and always showing them love and putting out a positive attitude at the shows and taking the time to build relationships with the people that have come to watch them play. And building relationships with the other bands that are there also. (Usually there are 4 to 6 bands at each venue.) So they have gotten to know some of the bands that they used to go and watch and now they are playing with them and you can see how exciting it is for them. And now they have this CD and they have a little table they set up that will have t-shirts and stuff. Its just been a very rewarding experience and I was excited to share it. So thanks to everyone for you kind words and your encouragement. And all the help that I received on the recording forum while making the CD for these guys. Once again Thanks!!! smile.gif
