Be careful of pain that doesn't go away fast when you stop playing, you might be overworking your muscles. It's normal to feel "tired" after playing a while or executing stretches etc. but I guess we all feel when things are not "normal", that's the moment to take a break.

Better safe than sorry!

What kind of pain do you experience? Pain in those situations is always a sign to stop and rest, because muscles are tired. Dull pain and numbness usually are the sign of tired fingers. Strong sharp pains are not something that is good, so stay away from those. In both cases, take a break, and massage the hands until the pain stops.

I don't think that you should feel any kind of pain in your fingers, except on the fingertips... Maybe you don't relax your fingers enough? Try warming and stretching up before playing.
