GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ My New Weapon!

Posted by: TreyDeschamp Mar 30 2013, 01:53 AM

Hey guys,

Today I got my new weapon of choice! It is a Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 SE. I was surprised with it by my Dad who got it for me as an early graduation present since he could tell the love I have for it!

Made a little video to show it off to you guys!

WARNING:
The guitar playing isn't all that great because this guitar is a lot more slick than what I'm used too making the slides sound rough (among other parts). The point of the video is so you can all mainly hear how the guitar sounds and to let y'all get a good look at it!

your video is set to private

apart from that congratz man

The SE series has some great guitars,
I tried the Torrero and some Marsden Signature.

would've also tried a 24 but they only had yellow and tobacco sunburst ones that time.

does this one have a curved top? cause I thought all the SE models would be flat.
can't really tell from the picture

Congrats!! Yeah, your video is private so I can't watch yet.

It does have a curved top actually. I think they started carving the SE Custom 24s around 2012.

The video link should work now!

WOW - congratulations on getting that guitar!
It really looks amazing and from what I have heard - it sounds very good (as expected).

May it serve you well and looking forward to seeing it in the REC section.

Threw in a little of a demo of what I told you I've been working on in the end of the video Cosmin! laugh.gif

I completely understand why you love these guitars. Even for a Korean built model it feels better than any guitar that I've ever played.

Awesome cool.gif I've been eyeing the same SE model for some time. That and the Torero model. The royal blue is my favorite of the color choices.

The Torrero model features a Floyd, otherwise it's very nice - the FLoyd became a major setback for me in the last years, but that doesn't mean it has to be the same for everyone.

If you want something darker sounding and with more of a Gibson style neck, try the Akerfeldt PRS wink.gif

Thanks for the 'grats y'all!

Yeah the royal blue version really does look sharp! I tried the Torero model as well. Wasn't much for it with the floyd and no inlays. It just didn't look or feel like a PRS to me.

Yea, floyds can be a pain in the neck sometimes. I had always avoided changing strings longer with a floyd term. rolleyes.gif Still, I was leaning towards a Torero over the Custom 24 cause of the floyd. since I don't have a solid guitar with a floating trem and 24 frets. I really like the look of the purple Torero and also the new 2013 has a slick looking white Torero which looks really nice with the ebony fretboard. I know some PRS purists loathe the Floyd rose and EMG pups being featured on a PRS. The Torero sound amazing in some of Piotr's GMC lessons. smile.gif

I have wanted to try out a Akerfeldt signature too... I prefer thicker necks over skinny. That and Trey's custom probably fit the bill better here (really dig the bird inlays and thick sound). I think Fredrick in Opeth has a sig. SE model as well? Well, hopefully I can fill up my piggy bank and start my own "new guitar" thread sometime soon. biggrin.gif
