Hello , I know it has been a while . the reason is because I moved to a new apartment and I couldn't shoot the videos.
Now I hope this lesson will interest you. this a is a nice technique of holding the pick between the index finger and the thumb , and the rest of the fingers bring those jazz sounds as an answer.
I think this technique of going chromatic is something that helps you find the area of notes that are suitable for playing while you are jamming.

Now let's go to work

Main video:Attached File  main_video_beta.wmv ( 4.44MB ) Number of downloads: 884

Video 1: Attached File  video_1.wmv ( 3.36MB ) Number of downloads: 507

I know it always easy to say I can see it in the video or the tabs but I think you should watch at least once. this technique with the finger is also nice for solos but I guess it is for a different lesson.
Here the bass is moving from the root note bass to the 5'th bass of the chord chromatic.

video :1
e|--------------------------------------------------+-------------------------|
B|----6---6----6---6--------6----6---6---6----------+-------------------------|
G|----5---5----5---5--------5----5---5---5--------*-+-------------------------|
D|--------------------------------------------------+x2-----------------------|

I choose to make a little change here so you can see that really fast you can bring these cool melodies with the bass. And I finish with going down to first area, where is started the song

e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|------8----8---8----8----------8-----8----8----8---------------------------|
G|------7----7---7----7----------7-----7----7----7---------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---7----5----7----5---------7----5-----------5-----------------------------|
E|----------------------------------------7----------------------------------|

e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|----8-----8------8----8--------8----8------7-----5-------------------------|
G|----7-----7------7----7--------7----7------6-----6-------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|--7-----5----------5-------------------------------------------------------|
E|--------------7-------------7-----5-----4------3---------------------------|

Video 3 :Attached File  video_3.wmv ( 2.77MB ) Number of downloads: 377

I don't know why I keep doing this chords . this is a good example how many stuff you can do with this shapes . just sit around in the house and play with them.

video 3:
e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|-------6--6\-----------6---6\--------6---6/----------6----6\---------------|
G|-------5--5\-----------5---5\--------5---5/----------5----5\---------------|
D|----------4\---------------4\-----------------------------4\---------------|
A|---/5--------------/5-------------/5------------/5-------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Video 4:Attached File  video_4.wmv ( 1.99MB ) Number of downloads: 344

Now this is typical for "walking" , what I do here is I do the 1-3-5 "G" chord and then I play the "C" chord this phrase in jazz is V-I . After I do 1-3-5 with Dm .
This is all ideas how to make phrases with "walking bass".

e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|------------4------------------4----------------6\----------------6\-------|
G|------------3------------------3----------------5\----------------5\-------|
D|------------5------------------5------------7---4\-----------7----4\-------|
A|------5--3--------------5---3----------5--8-----5\-----5--8-------5\-------|
E|-3--7-------------3--7-----------------------------------------------------|

Video 5: Attached File  video_5.wmv ( 1.45MB ) Number of downloads: 374

Now here I do V-II-I in jazz (G D C ) and descending chromatically to finish this part.

e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|-----------------------7--*----6--*----5*----4*----------------------------|
G|-----------------------6--*----5--*----4*----3*----------------------------|
D|-----------------------5--*----4--*----3*----2*----------------------------|
A|------5--3-*----*-5----6--*------------4*----3*----------------------------|
E|-3--7--------3-------------------------------------------------------------|

Video 6 : Attached File  video_6.wmv ( 1.4MB ) Number of downloads: 336

Here we go back to the same first part but here we also change the box and we go up in one box . and it brings this tension here , I used it here for doing some sort of an end.

e|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|----6---6----6---6--------6----6---6---6----------------------------------|
G|----5---5----5---5--------5----5---5---5----------------------------------|
D|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|--5---4----3--------------------------------------------------------------|
E|----------------5-------4----3---4----5-----------------------------------|

e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|------8----8---8----8----------8-----8----8----8---------------------------|
G|------7----7---7----7----------7-----7----7----7---------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---7----6----5-------------------------------------------------------------|
E|------------------7--------6------5----6-----7-----------------------------|

Video 7:Attached File  My_Movie_7.wmv ( 706.66K ) Number of downloads: 339

Here in my mind I just thought about something to crash this chord shape chromatically. This a way to discover all this "Joe pass maneuvers" with chords. Take every chord you know and crash it and see what goes out.

e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|-----10--10-10-------10-10-10------8-8----------9\-------------------------|
G|-----9---9--9--------9--9--9-------7-7----------8\-------------------------|
D|-----8---8--8--------8--8--8-------6-6----------8\-------------------------|
A|-9---------------8-------------7-------------------------------------------|
E|------------------------------------------------8\-------------------------|

Video 8:Attached File  video_8.wmv ( 1.26MB ) Number of downloads: 354

Chromatic descending. if you will take the ordinary pentatonic boxes and you will connect all the notes with approach notes you will get this chromatics boxes. It is so cool to speed pick these guys so try them out.

e|---8-7-6-5---------------------------6-7-8-9---10~-------------------------|
B|-----------8-7-6-5-----------5-6-7-8---------------------------------------|
G|-------------------7-6-5-6-7-----------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Well well well.

Like always I want to thank you for giving me you time. I know everybody here are really good but it is no shame some time to learn stuff like this . for example everybody knows how to improvise 12-bar but I any way studied Gabriel's lessons in this issue although I know most of the licks . I gained so much out of it and I don't even know what I just feel it .

I try to play anything here on the site every lesson brings you more tools even if they are small.

Peace and Shalom.
