Hey guys, im gigging next thursday! My first real gig ever! Im playing 2 songs: I'm Alright by Neil Zaza and Cryin' by Joe Satriani.

Now, there are some parts in Cryin' were i want to improvise with legato. So id like to know the key of the song. I couldnt find a video of Joe playing it, but i found an amazing cover by Cesar Huesca, check it out:

Cryin' - Joe Satriani

If i had to guess, i would say its in the key of E minor. But im not sure. Can someone shed some light? tongue.gif

Thank you.

I was close since C# is the relative minor for E Major.

I know , I took your advice on try to play the songs by ear and not looking at the tabs and thats what I did whit this one , I think my ear is refining every day since I'm applying your advice, now I guess I have to refine it to differentiate between major and relative minor.

All you have to do is to listen what root is.
Almost each section starts with E chord and ends with it.
It's not major rule to have root chord as first one however
but you can follow it as a guide. smile.gif
