I am learning that song...and none of the effects on my pod seem to sound right. Can anyone tell from hearing it what the effect is?

Definitely not! Here is a Youtube link. The National Anthem starts at 1:09, that is also the best place to hear it. Maybe a flanger or something like that? None of the settings on my 2.0 are close though.

It is called a wahwah + Jimi's fuzzy distortion coming from his marshall

maybe it's a rotovibe, too. Just check his pedalboard and try the effects...

Not the wah pedal...there is an effect that seems like a rotary or a flanger of some kind...maybe that rotovibe thing you mentioned.

My guess it is a Uni-Vibe too. Anyway a combination of Strat Singlecoil-Marshall Plexi-UniVibe-Fuzz-Wah will get you close, but try to catch that Hendrix feel too
