Talking to me?
I was listening to NOTHING but Iron Maiden for 3 years straight, then a couple of months with In Flames, then Opeth and after a little while I discovered black metal. Two years with only extreme metal. I sucked at guitar becuase of computer games, but also becuase I didnt have any musical inspiration. Black metal isnt really about technical guitar work, but more about the riffs, sound and feeling. But around Christmas 2006, I think, I discovered Johnny Winter and Stevie Ray Vaughan. My dad had some records of Johnny Winter and he ordered a SRV CD aswell. That was when I decided to start practicing guitar. I googled a bit and found GMC
And now I listen to more or less everything, but I still like blues the best, at the moment atleast.
I LOVE playing with my blackmetal band, but at home I play blues and rock'n'roll.
But indeed, its a tough choice! Metal is so awesome. Death, thrash, black and heavy metal, I love it. Latelly I have started to enjoy Dødheimsgard and Anaal Nathrakh. I used to hate stuff like that

So hard to decide! I could easily have picked blues or metal. Went with classic rock in the end as it's more of a mix.

Metal again.
Mainly death, doom and progressive for me, I listen to a bit of core sometimes just for a bit of something different.
Not a huge fan of thrash.

As far as guitar goes...my favorite genres are probably Jazz, funk, and rock.
but I listen to indie/pop-punk/alternative stuff a bunch and none of those were on the list. I know most bands of those genres aren't very good guitarists, but I really love things I can sing along to (I was a vocalist before I was a guitarist).
Ambient is also a favorite genre of mine. Anyone listen to Sigur Ros or Explosions in the Sky?!
