GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Line 6 Spider Valve Bogner Hd-100 + Marshall Mg-412a + Line 6 Short Board Xt

Posted by: Evil_Invader Mar 26 2009, 06:27 PM

Just wanted to know what you think about this amp? And how it matches with Marshall MG-412A + Line 6 Short Board XT?

I've heard the combo version and I think it sounded really good at low volume, didn't play it loud thought.

For the moment, I play a Line 6 Flextone II HD and really like the fact that I don't have to carry 100s of pedals with me. The other guitarist I play with owns a Bogner Uberschall and needless to say it is amazing!

I don't have the 3000$ to buy a ''full'' Bogner or an expensive tube amp and as I previously stated I like the fact to have effects included.

In the end, how much would you pay for the mentionned gear?

I'm not really knowledgable about gear so I'm sure you guys can help! Thanks a lot in advance!

I don't like modeling at all but the Line 6 tube amps are the best out of the modeling amps I've tried. I guess the line6 short board should work with it as it is a line6 product, better check the website for more info!

I wouldn't recommend the the marshall MG 4x12 box as it's fairly cheap speakers and built quality - you will be much happier with a great 2x12 cabinet then with a decent 4x12. Try a Marshall 1932 2x12 with vintage 30 celestion speakers (look for a used one, buying cabs new is a waste of money imo)

Thanks, I'm asking about this particular combination because someone is selling it as ''package''. So yeah, the short board sure matches the amp, but is it good and well made? Is there better ones?

I can always change the cab later.

He ask 1500$ CDN and says it's been played like 2-3 times.

i dont know much about CDN to USD but i think that is a little high no?

you could buy the 1x12 new for like $800 USD and get a cab of your choice for around $300 (used) and itll end up being less expensive

Yeah maybe but it's been played 2-3 times, so it isn't that bad.. I think + there is the footboard which is worth 200$+

Anyone tried this one?

For 1200 USD it is a good price if it is new, you will save some 200-300$ then buying new, BUT, as Zakk said, that MG cab is really bad, so I wouldn't recommend it either. So try to get only Spider Head+board and tell him to lower his price by the price of the cab (250$). This will leave you with 250$ more to look for a cab. Add 50$ more and you can get a good 2x12 used, and loaded with vintage 30s that can really add to the sound of that rig. Through that 4x12 MG everything will be muffled and undefined.
