you know, I believe he was playing a Telecaster at the time. If you look at some early videos. This is a song from the first album, but I believe he recorded the second, most or all, with the telecaster.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=vrCvLOpLKQ8 The tone did not sound more than approximately like his to me. His sound was thicker. But don't take that as a criticism. Pretty hard to capture that. For one thing, he used a tape echo I believe. Not easy to capture the sounds made with more primitive technology (built with less precise components) using today's devices. |
