GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Song For A Wedding?

Posted by: alibro Jun 30 2008, 03:13 AM

Hallo GMCers. I have a question... My brother is getting married in two month and I thought to play a great wedding song for him as a present... Have anybody an idea what for a song I can play, or have anybody wrote a wonderful song?
Thanks

You could try Nothing Else Matters by Metallica. It seems like it might work with just one guy doing guitar and vocals.

I believe in a thing called love! At least the title is good for a wedding ;D

What about Gary Moore Classics? Still got the blues, Parisienne Walkways...or Vai's For the love of God...Not that easy though to play it well..as I dont know which level you are...

Maybe the house of the rising sun would be fun if he can take a joke. Going from freedom, gambling and women to get locked up for life biggrin.gif

Anyway, a couple cheesy acoustic "Wonderful tonight", "Careless whisper", "You are so beautiful" and I have a couple favourites in my sig below wink.gif

or ..unchain my heart baby let me go huh.gif

Are you doing it acoustic or with MIDI backing?

I would choose something easy and effective, like Canon in D smile.gif

Thanks guys!!! These are very nice songs, espacially the one from you Lian G. and chmilew, they are wonderful. I will look for the tabs unsure.gif
My level on the electrical guitar is 5-6 I would say, so I can`t play For the love of god... dry.gif I donĀ“t want to sing there, only an instrumental song, like the two or Nocturnal Vision from Kristofer Dahl and Marcus Lavendell.
Thanks very much!!!

Most weddings tend to have a wide age range so you need to take that in to account. I'd go for something moderately slow and classic that most people would recognise (if not always know) and not be offended by.

Righteous Brothers 'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-idDbIfGvw' fits the bill in my mind.

If 'Unchained' is too gushy then:

Lou Reed's 'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_WEvqxxQiU (and we'll gloss over what the song is actually about).

Cheers,
Tony

Canon in D is very appropriate for a wedding. Used it at mine and I love that song. There are a lot of versions on this site by our talented instructors that might be helpful. Good luck.
