So I've spent about a week on this with this one. It's for a small studio making a strategy RPG. They like it so far but they're not musicians so I thought I'd see if the guys at gmc could pipe me some constructive criticism... The mixing and mastering is probably where I feel most uncertain. But if you have something about the composition I'd greatly appreciate that too.

Hey! That's really interesting! I think that the music sounds very gamer. It sounds "old school", like the 8 bit games. Is this for that kind of game? Something for cellphones?

If that's the case, I think that the composition, the sounds and the mix works great. It sounds like an actual version of those classic 8 bit games. I've used my AKG headphones and the mix seems balanced. There is some lack of low end but I think that's how this type of music would sound.

I think that it would be cool if you talk with Socky42 who has experience with video games soundtracks. I've just sent him this thread.

Hi! Thanks for the great feedback. It is indeed for a oldschool-ish style game. It's going to be a bit anime inspired and hopefully charmingly japanese. The missing low-end is as you say, probably how that oldschool type of music would sound, so it's on purpose. I didn't add a sub and am only using a pretty midrangey kick.

I'll try to get in contact with socky42 and see if he has some tips he's willing to share.

I'm very grateful
