Yet another one building on the last but this time we are adding in a finger roll!! As if the pattern wasn't tricky enough, I threw a good pinky stretch and a finger roll in there for good measure. You've got a lot of experience playing this type of riff at this point so I did have high expectations and you matched up to them!! You've got the ECON PICKING, the MUTING, the FINGER ROLL, and the PINKY STRETCH. All of it wrapped up in cool riffs. I hope these riffs inspire you to come up with some of your own riffs. I remember your working on a soundtrack and I was thinking maybe you could create some guitar riffs based on these past few Missions that would work well in the project. Just a thought smile.gif Good job on your technique here soldier. The Missions are going to drift toward more lead based word as we go but never underestimate the value of learning to play complicated riffs.

You got this sorted Soldier. You just..

LEVELED UP!!!

Well Fought Soldier! This is a collection of several things we have been working on. The most difficult lick is that one with a ton of notes in it. It's a combination of several licks in to one big, long lick. It's got inversion, scale bits, back and forth, etc. Not to mention the fact that it has so many notes in it, it's hard to play it all the way through without missing one. You manage to play the entire thing which is truly impressive. It's a very very long lick. It could be used as a solo lick, and you can play it at speed which is also impressive. You keep your mute nice and tight which is needed in a lick like this or you will get wads of string noise. We also have some multi picking in this one which can be very demanding. You sort the multi picking as well. These licks are all well within your ability and I can tell you are pushing yourself to the edge of your ability which is great to see. Keep that up!!

You have this sorted Soldier.

You just..

These get noticeably harder one by one. They look easy but to play these pieces properly isn't that easy.

It's all the open string bits that make it a bit nuts. You navigated it with dexterity. The goal is to always make it seem like it's effortless. As they say, true skill is effortless. Congrats on playing these. They are very tricky indeed. Solid mute and strikes. You are are ready for whats next!

I thought that last one was going to get ya Soldier!!! That's the open string lick that I throw in from time to time to see if you still remember it! Good news is you do!! It's a bit tricky since it goes back and forth a bit. It's a great open string lick for practice and for use in solos. It's one of my faves and I use it all the time. The faster it's played the cooler it sounds. You have had a couple of issues with it in the past but you have it sorted now! The first few licks also looked good and I saw you ending with some vibrato!!! not to long ago you would never end a lick with vibrato. It's a great change to see. keep working on your vibrato as you go! It will continue to improve. You got this sorted Soldier! You just..

Some very tricky single string work here. There are tons of licks that happen on just one string. It can be hammering/tapping, or it can be one note at a time bouncing back and forth on an ope string. the fingers can change direction at any time and some licks feel like they are backwards. This is just part of the fun. You keep a solid mute here Soldier and play the licks well. Even the crazy tapping with the open string and tap hand traverse. Impressive work Soldier! String noise is kept at bay as well. You've got this one. Time for what's net!!

Well fought Soldier!!! You have some great multi picking going on here Soldier!! Multi picking is a technique that some players struggle with. You have taken to it like a duck to water and it's great to see. Solid muting and picking here as well. Your multi picking is very precise and that is really the key to multi picking. If your timing is off, multi picking licks will sound terrible. The good news is your timing is very solid. As you increase speed, multi picking sounds very spiff. It gets a rythmic pulse going that can work really well in lead work. See if you can keep pushing your multipicking speed as we go. Also, your playing a big arpeggio here as well and you are doing it smoothly. This is to prep you for doing full sweeps. It's good to see you doing the correct picking on this part also. As you speed this up it will sound more "Yngwie".

Impressive work Soldier! This Mission is a bit exhausting for any Soldier. It's probably a bit to many drills of too many types in one place. I appreciate your ability to dig in and push through all of it Soldier!! It shows a deep level of determination. You also display a wide variety of techniques on this one. It has very complicated tapping, complete with open strings, multi picking, palm muting, traversing all over the place, etc. It's all packed in there. You tear through it with vigor and knock it out. Well Fought!!

Well fought Soldier!!! This one is all about doing riffs that sorta feel like lead bits. These are riffs, but they are not played using power chords. Too often, as players, we drift back to using power chords for riffs just because it's easier. This mission is about pushing the boundary of riffage by using some of the same techniques that we have been working on to play riffs instead of scales/lead bits. You handled it quite well Soldier! You've got the dexterity and control to pull these licks off. Super congrats on that. Well Done!

I would like to hear the overdrive pedal before the amp if you can add it in. Not a requirement, just a suggestion.

You are ready to move on! You just..

Good job on this one Soldier! Also, I notice you have increased the amount of gain/distortion on your tone which is great to hear. Sounds like you added an overdrive before the amp? It's given your tone more sustain and more bite. It should make some of the upcoming Missions flow in terms of tonal response to your fingers. The Missions that use the higher strings benefit from a bit more gain and it helps to show if there are any gaps in your palm mute.

This one has some tricky riffage going on. These are very fun rock/metal riffs that are more based on scales than on power chords, which you may have noticed is something of a "thing" for me. Don't get me wrong I love power chords too, but they do get a bit over used in rock/metal. I prefer using notes to dance in a scale and power chords now and then. this makes these riffs tricky as it's not what the hand normally does. You've done enough of them that you are getting really good at this style of play. good picking, muting, pinky power, it's all there!

You are ready for what's ahead.
You just..

This is impressive work soldier! You have a bit of a flub around 2:18. Can you see it in the film? I'm impressed by how you played all of these complex rythm bits. These are the basis of much of the metal vocabulary. Can you give me that one riff one more time a bit tighter?
